Dyke pots hat-trick in Stars win
Mike Dyke tallied three goals and Fred Diamond made 21 saves as the Cee Bee Stars scored two third period goals to pull away from the Southern Shore Breakers, 5-3.
Dyke opened the scoring with a little less than five minutes gone in the first period and Jamie Coady tied the game with a powerplay tally for the Breakers with a little over five mintutes remaining in the first period.
Dyke and teammate Sean Wadden scored goals just 1:13 apart early in the second period but another Breakers man-advantaged marker by Jamie Tobin pulled the road squad to within a goal at the end of 40 minutes.
Dale Sullivan kept the Shore's special teams humming with a tying powerplay goal at 4:55 but Eddie Bartlett reclaimed the lead for the Stars 1:38 later and Dyke would finish his hat-trick and any Breakers comback hopes with a PP goal at the 10:39 mark.
Bram Dawe made 23 saves in a losing effort and Don Gosse had three assists for the Breakers. |
