Haynes posts hat-trick in Breakers win

Mike Hayes scored three goals and Chris Letemplier made 32 saves in a 6-3 Southern Shore Breakers victory over the visiting Bell Island Wave.

The Breakers were ready to go from the opening whistle and poured 15 shots towards Wave netminder Jonathon Smith. Berrick Laughlin was the lone man to light the lamp and his tally had the Shore up 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Jay Pilgrim tied the game early in the second period but the Breakers rolled from there and a four-goal second period - the first two coming from the stick of Hayes- chased Smith and powered the Shore to the win.

Jon Adams had two goals for the Wave and Dean Burton had three assists for the winners.
